Add-On Certification: Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Supervisor of Parish/City Materials and/or Media Centers
After initial licensure, additional certifications are available by completing a combination of courses and PRAXIS exams. To begin an “add on,” go to the School of Education for the application and return to:
Office of Teacher Candidacy and Certification, College of Education and Human Development, NSU, Natchitoches, LA 71497
or fax to 318-357-6275 or scan and e-mail to education@nsula.edu
For more information on licensure requirements, go to the Louisiana Department of Education companion Web site “TeachLouisiana.”
Note: Students enrolled in NSU’s add-on programs are coded as non-degree seeking students, and are not eligible for Federal financial aid.
Out-of-state students: Successful completion of this program by itself does not lead to certification or licensure in any state. It is the student’s responsibility to determine individual state requirements for teacher certification or licensure. Please refer to Education Resource Organizations Directory (EROD) for individual state requirements for teacher certification or licensure. Please be advised that states change their policies from time to time and students are advised to check regularly with their state regulatory agencies’ policies and procedures relating to licensure. Further, a criminal record may prevent an applicant from obtaining licensure, certification, or employment in this field of study.
For more information, contact the School of Education.
Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) certifies that NSU has met rigorous professional standards for the preparation of teachers and other school specialists and is a national accredited institution.
