ITS Services

ITS is responsible for acquiring, installing, and maintaining technology for students, faculty, and staff on the Natchitoches main campus and three distance campuses: Shreveport, Leesville and Cenla.

Virus: a piece of malicious software than can infect your computer and other computers through the internet or a network. A virus can severely damage files and computer components.

Spyware: Spyware comes in two forms; malicious software and tracking software. Spyware can slow down the performance of your computer. Some Spyware can log key strokes and even send personal information across the internet to others.

Pop-up Windows: mini websites that can load when you enter a page. Some web applications need to open a Pop-up window in order for you to proceed. You can turn Windows IE Pop-up Blocker on and off by going to Tools > Pop-up Blocker > Turn Off/On Pop-up Blocker.

Wireless Connections

To connect to the NSU network with a wireless connection you will need the following:

  • A computer running Microsoft Windows 7 or newer / Mac OS X 10.6 or newer
  • A mobile device running iOS 5.0, Android 4.0 or Windows Phone 8.0
  • A wireless network card that supports Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) security
  • An active myNSU student account
